Content Management

Q. What is content management software (CMS)?

A. Content management software allows a user to update content, images, events, and other related items without compromising the site structure. The site is accessed via user name and password through the internet.

Q. Do I have to know HTML code or have programs like Front page or Dreamweaver to edit my site?

A. No. Our websites allow you to edit via the internet using familiar tools similar to Microsoft Word and similar products.

Hosting Information

Q. How much space do you allocate for websites?

A. Each site we design is given 200 megabytes of storage. This is generally more than enough to accommodate complex websites.

Q. I am already hosting my site with another company but would like to have Bradshaw Web Designs host it instead, is that possible?

A. No, we are not a web hosting company. Due to that reason we will only host websites that we design.

Q. I’m already paying for web hosting for another company; can a Bradshaw Web Designs site be hosted on another server?

A. No, the nature of our content management software requires that a server contain certain compatible scripts. Additionally, the construction of our sites requires FTP access and various adjustments in bandwidth. For these reasons we require sites to be hosted on our server only.

Q. How can Bradshaw Web Designs provide hosting for only $10 per month?

A. Contrary to popular belief, bandwidth is not terribly expensive. Many companies increase the cost in order to make more profit. Because we deal primarily with churches, ministries, and small businesses, we keep our costs at a minimum.

Q. How many email accounts will I receive?

A. Our basic package includes 4 email addresses. These are POP3 mail accounts, compatible with Outlook and Outlook Express and can also be accessed via the internet.

Q. Is your server reliable?

A. We offer a 99.5% uptime guarantee. If there is a period where the server is down for maintenance you will be notified and this work is generally done during non business hours.

Web Designing

Q. What constitutes a page?

A. We designate any content linked to the main menu of a site (i.e., home, about us, staff) as a page. Those pages can contain sub pages that you can add yourself as a user that will not apply toward your page allotment. The Contact Us and Event Calendar page are included in all of our packages and does not count toward your web page allotment.

Q. How can you afford to develop websites for so much less than other companies?

A. Several reasons. we have several web related services built into our organization, such as server space, graphic designers, editors, and technicians. This allows us to offer websites and web design for substantially less money than other organizations.

Getting Started

Q. How long does it take to get my website completed?

A. Generally we can have your website fully functional in three weeks. Your site cannot be started, however, without the transfer of or registration of a domain name on our server.

Q. What do I need to provide Bradshaw Web Designs?

A. We will need you to provide content in the form of contact information, staff information, welcome message, mission statement, etc. We will also need any logos, photos, banners or other images that you would like included on your site. We can also create images for you. Just ask your Bradshaw Web Designs representative for details.

Q. Will I have someone I can talk to during the design process?

A. Yes, you will have a designated technical contact and service contact that will be able to answer your questions regarding your site. These contacts will be given to you once your contract is complete.

Q. What kind of ongoing support do you provide?

A. We provide complete support for the length of your contract. If you need assistance with any aspect of your site we are a call, or email away. 

Q. What if I do want to change my template or basic site structure?

A. You are allowed one cosmetic update per year. Beyond that we would need to negotiate a price dependant upon the amount of changes you would desire.
